Parking lots and prime day finds
Thing 1 decided she wanted to play “catchball” after watching a Yankee game with me. I went looking for in the garage that fit the bill of soft enough to not hurt her when she inevitably gets hit with the ball but something realistic and manageable for her to hold and throw. I had tennis balls and whiffle ball. Meh. I did some googling and found kore baseballs. Hand stitched, structurally a baseball but softer than a tennis ball. Grabbed a 4 pack off Amazon, I have no idea if they were on sale but I enjoy having 4 random baseballs around the house/garage at the moment. Thing 1 is also enjoying them and practicing throwing and catching. We have a ways to go but the curiosity itch is being scratched. Thing 2 is even getting in on the action and at least just calling out what they are “ball.”
In other news the rain on Monday July 14 was abhorrent and dangerous. I ended up stranded with 100s of others in the Bluestar shopping center in Watchung that evening. This video is an amazing look at the vast disruption the 7-8 inches of rain that fell that afternoon caused. I thought I was going to end up sleeping in my car, so much so that I popped into the ShopRite to buy a toothbrush and toothpaste along with some snacks. The blocked intersection ended up draining enough by 1130 that we were able to pass. Shout out to the local first responders that helped save people from their flooded cars, trucks, buses! I was pretty low stress throughout this episode despite not being at my house where my wife and thing 1 & 2 were hunkered down. My poor lawn was completely under water (my wife sent me vids). Due to the mass amount of water covering my property I ended losing a drain cover, so Tuesday night I decided “oh I’ll goto Home Depot to get another.” That was a mistake. Deja vu but more stressful, the entire watchung shopping center was gridlocked with cars trying to exit to RT22 east. It took me 1.5hrs to leave the Home Depot parking lot. Absolute disaster. Mercury in retrograde hard. The new joke is I’m not allowed to goto stores at night because I just get stuck. Boooo!
